Your Child's Progress

There are a few ways you can see your child’s progress throughout the year.

1. Stay and Play is an opportune time to gain some insight on how your child is managing at kindergarten. While on duty, you can observe interactions with others, interests, and strengths, get to know your child’s friends and chat with teachers.

2. We post observations on class dojo. These posts include written and photographic observations. Photo Observations are a perfect visual tool for a parent to see how their child is learning during an experience and provides an insight into the child's skills and development.

3. Through Class Dojo we also have individual child portfolios.  Having an online platform as opposed to a paper portfolio, it gives us more time to build relationships with the children and focus more on our teaching along with being more sustainable. You may want to put together your own display folder of their creative pieces, pictures from kinder. You can save/print the photos from class dojo. At the end of the year all the class dojo groups will be deleted so please save them to your phone/computer throughout the year.

4. Program Plans – During the term, the Educational team will share updates on what and how the children are learning. This may include whole-group, small-group, or individual learning, with photos and documentation. Written information about the program is available in the foyer.

5. Halfway through the year you will be asked to complete a family reflection and collaboration for future planning form for you to reflect on your child’s growth and learning during the first half of the year. This will help inform our planning for the remainder of the year.

6.Art Boxes – Children’s artwork is collected in their individual, named art boxes located in the foyer. These artworks help educators observe children’s creativity, fine motor development, and self-expression over time, supporting assessment of each child’s learning and progress. Families are encouraged to check these regularly. Not all children choose to participate in art experiences every session, so please don’t be concerned if there isn’t always something in your child’s art box. This simply means your child has been engaged in other learning experiences or exploring different interests. Families are encouraged to check these regularly.

If a teacher has any concerns that you need to be aware of, please be confident in knowing they will inform you.

If you have any questions or concerns about your child’s progress, please arrange a time with your child's teacher to discuss this at any time throughout the year. We are more than happy to answer any questions you may have.

Thank you,

from The Educational Team.
