What to Wear/Uniform

Clothing

Children should wear comfortable, easy to manage clothing. Casual clothes allow the children to engage in messy play experiences without feeling upset or worried about getting dirty.

We provide smocks for water-play, painting and clay plus gumboots and dungarees for the digging patch.

Please ensure that children have the minimum of a t-shirt sleeve for sun protection. No singlet tops or shoestring straps. Long dresses are also not suitable for safe outdoor play. Children should bring a warm coat on colder days as we always venture outside. Please name all clothing.

Spare clothes

Please pack a change of clothes (including socks) in a plastic bag. The kindergarten has spare clothing; however, children usually prefer to wear their own. If your child borrows some kindergarten clothing, please wash and return these items as soon as possible, as our supplies are limited.

Footwear

Please ensure your child wears appropriate, sturdy footwear. Thongs, crocs and slippery soled shoes are not suitable for safe play.

Hats

All children are required to wear a bucket hat from mid August to the end of April. Each kinder group wears a colour specific hat. Joeys = Red, Koalas = Green, Possums = Gold, Wombats = Navy. Parents have the choice of a free second hand hat or may purchase a brand-new hat from our uniform supplier for $11.75.

Sunscreen

Chelsea Heights Kindergarten is committed to promoting awareness of sun protection and sun safe strategies and ensuring that program planning minimises exposure to the sun on days of high UV levels. Parents/guardians are responsible for applying sunscreen to their child before the start of each session between mid-August and the end of April. Children will have sunscreen reapplied every two hours.

Uniform

We have a range of uniform for you to purchase. Our range includes kinder branded t-shirts, long sleeve t-shirts, windcheaters and hats in a variety of colours. We have some samples of the clothing located in the kinder foyer for your child to try on for size. These are not compulsory to purchase, they have been made with the following reasons in mind.

-Saves your children's clothes from the wear & tear of kinder fun.

-No need to waste time working out what to wear each time you come to kinder.

-Little ones are often excited to wear a "uniform"

-The sale of items contributes as a fundraising activity
