Sharon Cummins

(Diploma in Teaching)

Director, Teacher, Possums & Koalas

I feel happy and proud to have been part of the CHK community for over 20 years. It’s a positive and beautiful place for children to grow and learn. I’m committed to providing quality teaching and learning opportunities in Early Childhood. I grew up in Adelaide and trained as a ‘Junior Primary Teacher’, working with school children from Prep to Grade 2. I also lived and taught in the UK for a number of years, creating engaging learning environments for children from diverse cultural backgrounds. I am married to Peter, also passionate about teaching and learning and we have three adult sons: Andrew who is a Senior Project Manager in Construction, Tom who works at the University of Michigan in Communications and Alex, an Industrial Designer. My interests include gardening, travel and reading.

I feel very lucky to be part of Chelsea Heights Kindergarten this year. I enjoy working with our lovely and experienced team and knowing families and children as individuals. Personally, I would love each child to feel accepted and comfortable. Outside of kinder, I enjoy gardening, spending time with my families and traveling.

Elizabeth (Liz) Thornell

I'm Liz or Lizzie as I'm known by everyone at kinder. I've been working at our kinder for almost 18 years. I started as an integration aide then became a Co-educator which I love. I have two daughters who are also in the Education field. My interests include listening to music particularly Crowded House, Elton John, anything really (love music). I like going for walks, drives down the Peninsula, having  fun on our jetski and catching up with friends. I also enjoy mosaicing when I have time. I have also been lucky enough to travel to places such as Europe, UK, Vietnam and Japan but my favourite holiday spot is Noosaville in Queensland.

Laura Ashurst

I am so happy to be part of the Chelsea Heights Kindergarten team. I feel very priviledged to be able to educate each child and love getting to know all their personalities. I hope each child feels safe, secure and supported when in my care. Outside of kinder I love spending time with my two sons and husband as well as going on holidays to sunny Queensland.

Hannah Snow

(Diploma of Children’s Services)

Educator, Koalas

I joined Chelsea Heights kinder 2020 but have worked in the early learning sector since 2010. Throughout my career I have gained experience across all age groups and in a variety of roles. I pride myself on having positive and warm interactions with children by offering praise, support and respect. Creating a fun and exciting environment means I can also challenge and inspire every session. I live locally to the kinder with my husband and 2 children. I love living so close to the beach where we spend most of our time during the summer. As a family going to holidays anywhere we can swim in a pool or relax on the beach is what we like to do.
